In 2015 the World Series of Poker turned its $50,000 Poker Players Championship into a 10-game mix. Eighty-four players bought in, Mike Gorodinsky won $1,270,086, and by the next summer the event was back to eight games because turnout fell (the tournament's record has the details). Ten games in one rotation was too much poker even for people who play poker for a living.

On Sunday 11 October 2026, Phenom Poker is dealing a 10-Game Mix as a freeroll. Twice. With 2,000 USDC in each one. That is how the crypto room that built its reputation on Badugi, Razz and things called Dramaha has decided to mark its second birthday, and it is a fairly accurate portrait of the place: strange games, no entry fee, and a prize that only makes full sense once you look at the series calendar standing right behind it.

If you have never sat down there, our Phenom Poker review covers the stablecoin cashier, the PHNM token and when the tables are busiest. The short version for this piece: Phenom is a player-owned room funded in stablecoins, its lobby leans hard toward mixed games, and its birthday week was built for exactly that crowd. It also dropped the biggest change to its rewards since launch on the birthday itself, which is the part regulars will still be talking about in December.

Two freerolls, one rotation, 200 tickets

The Phenom 2nd Birthday Freerolls deal on Sunday 11 October, the first at 16:00 UTC and the second five hours later. Both are a 10-Game Mix, both are free to enter, and each carries 2,000 USDC in prizes. The prizes are tickets: the top 100 finishers in each freeroll get one, and each winner collects a 500 USDC seat voucher usable in whichever Championship event they like in the Phenom Series of Poker, the room's first full tournament series, known as PSOP. All of them remain usable until the series closes, and it runs 23 October through 15 November 2026. To find the two events, type "Birthday" into the search bar on the Tournaments tab.

The two start times land very differently depending on where you sit:

Summer time still applies everywhere below; the US clocks change on 1 November.

So the early one is a Sunday-lunch tournament for Americans and an after-dinner one for Europe, and the late one is prime time in the States and a midnight session in the Baltics. Anyone who wants both can play both.

Now the part worth slowing down for. The 500 USDC winner's ticket is not a random round number. Championship is the name of the PSOP's 500 buy-in tier: fifteen events at 500 CHIP each, carrying 217,500 of the series' guarantees between them, as we laid out in our full PSOP guide. CHIP is Phenom's in-game currency, pegged one-to-one to the dollar and bought with stablecoins, so the ticket is a whole Championship seat, not a discount voucher. And there is a neat loop available to whoever takes it down: Event #54 on 6 November is the 10-Game Mix Championship, 500 to enter and 15,000 guaranteed. Win the free 10-game rotation, play the paid one.

Where each 2,000 USDC goes

500

to 1st, as a ticket to any PSOP Championship event. That is 25% of the pool (500 / 2,000).

1,500

spread across places 2 to 100 in tickets. 1,500 / 99 = an average of about 15.15 per player.

Phenom has not published the split below first, so the average is our arithmetic, not a payout table. Across both freerolls: 2 x 2,000 = 4,000 USDC and 2 x 100 = 200 tickets.

A 15-ish average means most tickets below the top spots will, by our reading, be satellite-sized, which fits a PSOP qualifying ladder that starts at 2.50. If a freeroll draws 400 runners, one in four gets paid; if it draws 1,000, one in ten. Either way, the field will be playing Razz and Badugi for real equity in a series, which is a better reason to learn the rotation than any article we could write about it.

It is also a looser door than last year. When Phenom turned one, the anniversary freerolls ran over a full week in early November 2025 and paid more than 20,000 USDT in total, but you needed Silver tier to get in, which meant raking 100 USDT first (Poker.org covered that week). This year's announcement invites everyone and mentions no tier gate. Smaller pot, wider door, and the cake lands on the actual date this time rather than a month later.

The frame, the quiz, and the hosts with tickets in their pockets

Before Sunday there is a smaller game running inside the bigger one. Switch your avatar to the birthday frame, sit down anywhere, and until Sunday 11 October Phenom's hosts will be popping into games to quiz whoever is wearing it. Get the question right and you leave with a PSOP entry valued at as much as 100 USDC.

"Up to" is doing some work there. The PSOP's buy-in tiers below 200 are 25, 50 and 100, so expect the quiz prizes to land somewhere on that ladder rather than all at the top. Still, it is the poker version of a radio phone-in: be seated, be wearing the hat, know the answer. The practical tip writes itself. If you were going to play a session on Phenom this week anyway, the frame costs nothing and turns any orbit into a potential freeroll entry. Phenom has also said more giveaways are coming through its social channels, which in practice means its X account, Discord and Telegram.

One thing you can no longer catch: on the birthday itself, Wednesday 7 October, Phenom doubled the guarantee on all its freerolls and satellites for the day. Anyone grinding PSOP steps that day was playing for twice the usual guaranteed seats. Anyone who missed it gets the Sunday freerolls as the consolation round.

The present Phenom gave itself: Rewards 2.0

Freerolls are the party favours. The real announcement went up on 7 October under the title Rewards 2.0, which Phenom calls the biggest change to its rewards since it opened. It rolls out in stages over the coming weeks, so not all of it is switched on yet, but the shape is fixed and it changes what a regular on the site actually earns.

The headline is the rakeback ceiling. Our review card for Phenom still lists "up to 35% rakeback". The new ladder runs from 20% at the bottom tier to 80% at the top, with tiers earned on points and held for a full year once reached:

The Rewards 2.0 tier ladder

1 point per 1 CHIP of rake, cash or tournaments, counted over the last 365 days. Daily pace is our division: points needed / 365.

Bronze

0 points, rakeback max 20%

Silver

100 points, about 0.27 a day

Gold

2,500 points, about 6.85 a day

Platinum

15,000 points, about 41.10 a day

Phenom

75,000 points, about 205.48 a day, rakeback max 80%

Phenom publishes the ceilings for the bottom and top tiers only. Bars are scaled to the Phenom threshold.

Read that last row properly. Reaching the top tier means paying 75,000 CHIP in rake over a year, which is 75,000 / 365 = about 205 a day, every day. That is a professional's number. For most readers the meaningful rungs are Silver and Gold, and the meaningful word is "max": your tier sets the ceiling, then four boosts decide how close you get. One comes from climbing tiers, one from playing more hands than most players over the last 90 days (Phenom's own line: "Nobody likes a player who nits it up"), one from loyalty built over months, and one from staking at least 100 PHNM, the site's own token. Your rate is recalculated weekly and can move. Anyone who already holds a tier keeps it for at least six months after the new system goes live.

The daily cash leaderboards are being folded into the Grind Prix, a single weekly race from Monday 00:00 to Sunday 23:59 UTC with five boards (Nano, Micro, Low, Mid and High) and bigger prizes. Only rake from hands dealt to three or more players counts, which quietly ends any plan to farm points heads-up. The winners, along with Phenom-tier players, feed a quarterly Phenom Invitational. Freerolls move onto a published weekly calendar too: open ones every day, tier-gated ones with bigger pools (Silver and up at peak time, Gold and up on Sundays, Platinum and up once a month), and a 250 CHIP Welcome freeroll every week during a new player's first 30 days for anyone who deposits at least 100 CHIP, with extra entries unlocked at every 25 CHIP of rake, up to four.

The token side is where the birthday gets more interesting for owners than for grinders. Phenom will now send 3% to 15% of net rake each week into a public buyback wallet, starting at 3% and stepping up as weekly rake grows. Half of that buys PHNM on the open market; half is added as liquidity to PHNM's trading pool on Aerodrome, a decentralised exchange running on Coinbase's Base network, so that bigger trades move the price less. Buys happen at irregular times so nobody can front-run them, and every trade is posted within 24 hours. Why should a cash player care? Because it is a defined slice of the rake you pay, and the order is now written down: player rewards and agents get paid first, then the buyback, then the treasury takes the larger of 50,000 CHIP or half of what is left (never more than 70%), and stakers split the remainder.

You can also take part of your weekly rewards in PHNM instead of CHIP, with a 5%, 10% or 20% bonus for locking it for 26, 52 or 104 weeks. It is off by default, and Phenom itself is blunt that the token's price moves and locked tokens cannot be sold until the lock ends. Treat the bonus as the price of holding a volatile asset for a year or two, because that is what it is.

Two years, counted

Phenom says it dealt its first full day of poker on 7 October 2024 and has passed 19.5 million hands since. We cannot audit a room's hand counter, so take the total as Phenom's figure, but the division is ours:

730

days from 7 Oct 2024 to 7 Oct 2026 (no leap day in between)

19.5M+

hands dealt, per Phenom

~26,700

hands a day on average: 19,500,000 / 730 = 26,712

~1,100

hands an hour, around the clock: 26,712 / 24 = 1,113

Those are small-room numbers next to the giants, and an average flattens a lot: the early months were cash-only, and the volume has grown as the schedule has. A year ago Phenom launched a daily schedule of 44 guaranteed tournaments, only a quarter of them hold'em. This September it expanded to 70 a day. In August 2026 it moved the tables onto CHIP, and on 26 September it added the 13-game Bellagio Mix, a rotation modelled on the high-stakes Big Game from Bobby's Room at the Bellagio. The ambassador list reads like a mixed-game wish list (Brian Rast, Huck Seed, Dan Cates, Phil Laak, Viktor Blom), and on 3 October it added Renan "Internett93o" Bruschi. Blom's line on Phenom's homepage still sums up the pitch: "Online poker has needed this for a long time."

Whether a room that size can carry a 92-event series is the question the next five weeks will answer. A birthday that hands out 200 tickets into that series, and a rewards overhaul that pays heavier players more for sticking around, are two ways of making sure the first answer is a full lobby.

From cake to championship

Everything in the birthday week points at the same date: 23 October, when the PSOP opens with 92 events and 706,500 CHIP guaranteed through 15 November. Satellites are already running, from 2.50 at the bottom of the ladder, and every PSOP event gives a 10% bigger starting stack to anyone registered before the first hand. Birthday tickets die with the series on 15 November, so a ticket won on Sunday and parked until the last weekend is a ticket gambling on there still being an event it fits. The schedule, guarantees and leaderboard maths are all in our PSOP 2026 guide.
